From the Vice-Presidents
Welcome to the 2006 Marching Mustang Band Season and the 2006/2007 Edgewood High School Band season. I hope everyone will find a level of participation in this program that is comfortable for them in this busy time and beneficial for the band, the student musicians, and Edgewood High School.
Band is one of those aspects of High School that not only allows parental participation, but welcomes it, and indeed needs it. Like it or not, band as we know it, knew it, and love it, wouldn’t happen without parents.
And yet we are lacking.
It is incredibly sad that the High School Band can put on a concert and throw a tuba into the audience and not hit anyone. It is disappointing to look at the spectators at a marching band competition and see few familiar faces. Are the parents uninformed? Are we waiting for the students to tell us what is going on? Are we apathetic?
Here’s your notice: It’s going on!
We will soon have a new band director. He will need to see that we parents love our kids and that we are interested in what they are doing. We are supportive of the creative endeavors in which our kids are involved. We take the time to find out what’s going on. We make the time to lend a hand when it is needed. We have an investment in this program that is more than money; it is our flesh and blood.
I am proud of our kids, and their resiliency. Let’s be proud also of our Boosters!
